World water day: hydroelectric plants are the protagonists
Today, March 22, we celebrate World Water Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of water and promoting policies for its sustainable management. On this occasion, we want to focus on one of the technologies that use water as an energy source: hydroelectric energy.
Hydroelectricity is one of the most used renewable energy sources in the world. It is based on using the force of moving water to generate electricity. This type of energy is produced using waterfalls or dams that slow down the flow of water, creating a potential kinetic energy that is converted into electricity through turbines.
One of the main reasons hydropower is so popular is its sustainability.
Unlike other sources of energy, such as oil or coal, hydropower does not emit greenhouse gases that are harmful to the environment. Furthermore, water is a renewable energy source, which means that it does not run out and is not subject to market price fluctuations.
Hydroelectric power plants can produce large amounts of energy at relatively low cost, have high energy efficiency, and unlike energy sources such as solar or wind energy, which can be affected by climate and weather conditions, hydroelectric power it can be produced continuously, which makes it particularly suitable for supplying base energy to the electricity grid.

Hydroservice toward green energy
Hydroservice has always been focused on energy conservation and has already chosen to make use of photovoltaic systems in the past. However, the environmental crisis has led us to be increasingly sensitive and aware of the issue of sustainability, prompting us to focus more attention on the environment and make further efforts to limit our impact.
Although our new headquarters, built in 2018, is an innovative building in terms of energy efficiency, we have decided to further invest in a sustainable project with the installation of solar photovoltaic panels that allow us to use solar energy and generate 100 percent renewable energy to reduce CO2 emissions and curb dependence on the electricity grid, also bringing a reduction in Scope 2 emissions, one of the largest contributors to greenhouse gas production.

Hydroservice among the italian excellences
On Tuesday 15 October our company participated in the first edition of the "Corporate Ambassadors" initiative, promoted by KPMG and UBS in collaboration with the Polytechnic of Milan and with the media partnership of Il Sole 24 Ore. The event took place in Milan at Palazzo Mezzanotte, home of the Italian Stock Exchange, and Hydroservice is proud to be included among the finalists of this recognition.
A national project reserved for Italian family businesses that stand out for their ability to combine tradition and innovation, enhancing human capital, and are committed to a path of sustainable development, with a significant impact on both a local and global level, addressing successfully meeting modern challenges in the technological, sustainable and management fields. The selection criteria include the adoption of responsible practices, the ability to generate value for the territory and the continuity of the results obtained over time.
The initiative aims to strengthen the Italian entrepreneurial fabric, emphasizing the key role of family businesses, which know how to evolve and adapt to change. The objective is twofold: on the one hand, to support the growth of family businesses, promoting their innovation and ability to face the future; on the other, to offer guidance to companies so that they can best face new economic, environmental and generational challenges.
